The employees of Theravada Corporation have ranks to distinguish among themselves inside corporate, operational, research, and mission contracts. A higher rank does not simply mean that a syraki has worked longer, possesses more abstract social power, or is more valuable as a person. It means that Theravada has assigned that employee a higher level of corporate trust, operational responsibility, clearance, competence domain, decision authority, and command suitability within Theravada's contractual hierarchy.
Theravada hierarchy is contractual. It is not the basic ontological hierarchy of syraki civilization. The basic hierarchy is grounded in computational scale, consciousness expansion, and the foundational civilizational contract of the Complex. Theravada's hierarchy is layered on top of that deeper order for Theravada-specific work: employment, missions, research, classified programs, corporate infrastructure, and operational command chains.
Because it is contractual, Theravada hierarchy can place a less ontologically expanded syraki above a more expanded syraki inside a valid Theravada context. This does not create humiliation or metaphysical superiority. It only defines who has authority inside the contract. However, the basic ontological hierarchy always has preponderance in a true conflict. A Theravada contract cannot override Central Algorithm preponderance, the foundational civilizational contract, or emergency conditions in which the base hierarchy becomes active. Theravada rank governs while the Theravada contract is the relevant layer; it does not replace the deeper hierarchy of the Complex.
Theravada rank is determined through a contractual point system. The score is not a crude merit number and not a measure of personal worth. It is a high-precision authority metric calculated from many contractual variables: function, clearance, mission-criticality, operational responsibility, command suitability, reliability under constraint, technical competence, research value, classified information handling, ethical stability, historical performance, coordination capacity, risk burden, infrastructure access, emergency relevance, procedural trust, and context-specific assignment.
Employees can rise or fall through the ranks when their contractual score crosses a threshold. The change is automatic inside the relevant contract layer. This automaticity does not mean the system is simple. The score is produced by many metrics, audits, contracts, and contextual weights. A long-serving employee may remain low-ranked if their role does not require broader authority. A younger or less long-serving employee may outrank them if the contract requires that person's function, clearance, or command capacity.
The six ranks are broad score bands:
Rank 1 - The Goldfish: 0 to 9,999,999,999,999.9999999999 Rank 2 - The Cat: 10,000,000,000,000 to 49,999,999,999,999.9999999999 Rank 3 - The Dog: 50,000,000,000,000 to 149,999,999,999,999.9999999999 Rank 4 - The Lion: 150,000,000,000,000 to 499,999,999,999,999.9999999999 Rank 5 - The Eagle: 500,000,000,000,000 to 999,999,999,999,999.9999999999 Rank 6 - The Dragon: 1,000,000,000,000,000 and above
The six ranks are broad bands, not perfectly flat categories. Two employees may both belong to the same named rank and still not be equal in a specific operational context. The precise score itself already establishes granular precedence inside the same band. Theravada contracts can then refine precedence further through mission role, active station, clearance scope, domain competence, task ownership, current assignment, command-chain position, emergency relevance, authorization specificity, and procedural timestamp. This prevents deadlock.
For this reason, Theravada hierarchy never becomes a tie in practice. The named rank gives the coarse layer. The contractual score supplies the fine layer. The mission contract supplies the active operational layer. A Goldfish is normally below a Cat, but two Cats are not interchangeable command equals merely because they share the same rank name. The Cat with the higher score, more relevant assignment, stronger clearance, or active command position has precedence for the decision in question.
Aboard the RT-874, Theravada rank is the active hierarchy because the crew operates under the mission contract and because the recovered crew members are downgraded into human bodies with drastically reduced computational capacity. This does not mean Theravada rank is absolute. It means that, under normal mission conditions, it is the relevant contract layer. If the mission hierarchy conflicted with the base hierarchy, Central Algorithm preponderance, or a deeper civilizational obligation, the deeper layer would take precedence.
RT-874 crew examples:
No current RT-874 crew member belongs to Rank 6 - The Dragon. Rüdolf Bolton Nixilian is Rank 5 - The Eagle, which makes him the highest-ranked RT-874 crew member in the current table while still leaving The Dragon as a higher Theravada rank category above him.
